So after the many weeks of reading Hamlet out loud, we finally finished it. To me, it seemed like it would never end. But I have to admit, reading it out loud and stopping to discuss it with Ms. Holmes definitely helped me a lot. When Ms. Homles explained to us the significance what was going on it helped me understand the basic plot of this play.
Soon after, we fully watched one version of the movie and parts of the second version. I thought the first movie we watched was more true to how I thought the play would be to see. That being said, I found the second one kept my attention more because of the style and production. I thought it was easier to stay focused on the plot in the second version. Although, I preferred Hamlet from the first version rather because his emotions did not seem overdone. I wish we had watched all of the second one and only parts of the first version. But it is really helpful for me in understanding the play to see it.
Atmosphere and mood practice? What about our extensive discussion of the opening scene?
ReplyDeleteGood job with this Aishwarya!! I would add a little more to this post because it seems a little short. You could add specific parts of the play that helped you were able to understand better because of Ms. Holmes explaining it. You could also talk about specific aspects of the second movie that you liked over the first movie. Like Ms. Holmes said, maybe talk about the opening scene stuff too?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Saloni, you have a good overview of the main things we did in class but a few details would help you reflect more. Other than the production, did you take anything away from the second version? When you say that the first version was "more true to how I thought the play would be to see" do you mean that they made the same plot decisions you would've made or are you referring to the costuming and scenery?
